It’s been a great year in 2011. We covered many amazing cat stories from around the world. Here are some of my favorites. Happy Mew Year to all furry and hooman friends! When a feline is anxious, her behaviors change - eating less or more, drinking less or more, litter box problems, lying in the litter box, hiding, pulling away from affection, less interest in engagement with family through play, etc. By paying attention to your cat's envrionment and making key changes, you can help reduce or eliminate sources of stress or anxiety in your Siberian pet.
5 Steps you can take to prevent or reduce anxiety in your cat:
1. Use Feliway diffusers in the cat's bedroom. This mimics the natural hormone cats produce which indicates security. Consider this when introducing a new member of the household - whether two or four legged, moving, or returning from or going to the Vet's. Deeply anxious Siberians can benefit from having the diffuser used year round.  Feliway spray can be sprayed in the car and your cat's crate before travel.
2. Play gentle music. Country ballads and classical music are known to common humans and four legged animals. The "Harp of Hope"  creates create a calm and reassuring atmosphere for your Siberian.
3. Offer adequate stimulation and engagement daily. Teaser play before bedtime, and using entertainment CDs such as Cat Sitter or While Your Are Gone, or Cat Sitter Trilogy, when you are gone for long periods help your Siberian cat express her natural urges to hunt, leap and run. A
